Tropical Winter Reading + Trip Recap

I am the newest (and biggest) fan of escaping winter for a tropical trip! Annnnddd bringing along good friends and good books while you do it!

I just got back from the Guanacaste region in Costa Rica and had THE BEST time. The trip was for a friend’s birthday, so there were seven of us hiking to a waterfall, basking on the beach, and boating around the coast.

It was a quick 5-day trip and I ambitiously packed only essentials into a personal item (yep, not even a carry on) to be cheap. I nailed it, by the way! Here’s what I packed, wore, read, and did!

The essentials

kindle / cap / water bottle / belt bag / sandals / towel / sunnies / sunscreen

What I read

Per the aforementioned packing situation, I went light (read: realistic) on physical books and I only brought two paperbacks and my kindle. It ended up being super windy so I immediately switched to Kindle.

The style

I’m having a major style moment — maybe because I was SO excited to dress in non winter comfies for ones?? Anyways, I got a lot of DMs about some of my outfits and spoiler they are mostly RTR, Gorjana, or Old Navy (with a few Amazon exceptions).

Accessories (bracelets, sunnies, small hoops, hoops, shoes, belt) / RTR (skirt, romper) / Clothes (tank, button-up, dress, swimsuit)

The trip

I have to say, I planned nothing for this trip, but had a GREAT time. Here were the highlights for me:

  • Coco Locos at Coco Loco (they come frozen in a coconut)
  • Tamarindo beach (chill, huge, street parking)
  • Pangas Beach Club (the most gorgeous outdoor beach dining)
  • La Leona Waterfall hike (get a guide for sure and prepare to swim as a part of the hike)
  • Sentido Norte (fancier dinner, go at sunset or just before!)
  • Manta Ray Private Charters (boat day, best day)
  • Gracia Mar Vista (swim-up bar and infinity pool)
  • El Jardin (cafeteria-style food plus souvenir shopping)
