28 Summers (Review)

“And the worst thing about being young is not being able to appreciate that you’re young because you aren’t old enough to know any better.”

The review

It all started in 1993. Jake and Mallory met, and the rest is history. Their love encompases one long weekend every year. Although they’ve known each other for decades, their relationship is just those few moments on Nantucket.

Beautifully written — I mean what else do you expect from Elin Hilderbrand?! — this novel tells the story of those Labor Day Weekends where Jake and Mallory fall in love, stay in love, and risk everything to be with each other.

The idea of a “same time next year” isn’t morally sound, but I really recommend giving this a read despite the idea that affairs are affairs. Period. Root for Mal and Jake just because their love was doomed from the start.

This one is FANTASTIC on audio. Though, I did gravitate to the book to soak up every ounce of goodness from my third (and favorite?!) Elin read.

Just like her other books, this one is a love story to Nantucket, a place so seemingly idealistic, I cannot imagine it being real at this point.

Gosh I loved this book. And yes, I bawled my eyes out too. Loved this? Read Hotel Nantucket (could not be more different, but still so amazing!)
