An incredibly written historical fiction book inspired by real events and the glitz and glamour of The New York City Rockettes.

The review
At 19, Marion loves dance but knows where her future is — the only person more confident in her future is her father, a businessman who’s marrying off his eldest daughter to a stand-up man and future employee. But when Marion has the opportunity to audition for the New York City Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall, how can she say no?
It’s the 1950s, and for over a decade, someone has been instilling fear into New Yorkers with his seemingly random bombing attacks. When one attack hits too close to home, Marion risks it all to help get to the bottom of the bombings.
This book was such a delight. Flashing between the ’50s (where most of the story takes place) to snippets from the 90s when a Rockettes reunion is taking place, Fiona Davis’s story is alight with rich history of these incredible dancers to an emotional story of perseverance, citywide fear, romance, friendship, and sisterhood.
I’m so conflicted because I keep *wanting* to say this is Fiona Davis at her best with each novel I read from her, but it feels like a betrayal to each of her previous works! I don’t read a lot of historical fiction, but when I do I make sure it’s buy one of the greats (and Davis is a GREAT!).
Audiobookies — this one is great! Definitely recommend. The primary narrator is Rachel L. Jacobs, who’s done a bunch of my fave historical fiction (and other genre!) audiobooks, so she’s great! There’s a different narrator for another character, but not quite a full cast.
