We Were Never Here (Review)

Calling all wanderlusters — got a fab summer thriller for ya!

🤫 WE WERE NEVER HERE by Andi Bartz 🤫

College best friends and travel buddies, Emily and Kristen love to explore parts of the world where tourists haven’t yet taken over. The story picks up on the duo’s current trip to Chile, the first after the previous trip to Vietnam went very, very wrong. But when metaphorical lightning strikes the friends’ travels twice, Emily is suddenly suspicious of her best friend’s history — and the threat her presence will have on her future.

Gosh, it’s SO hard to review this one without giving anything away! Ah! I really enjoyed the ride. Such a great @reesesbookclub pick. It really challenged the normal formula of a thriller. Like, the beginning was so good and had me HOOKED. But then it slowed down a bit while we got some much needed context for the two characters. About halfway it picked right on up and I couldn’t put it down. Really enjoyed Andrea Bartz’s writing. She’s very descriptive and brings scenes to life. The audio is narrated by Becca Tobin which is just so cool — does it seem like more and more celebs are narrating audiobooks? More of this plz!

Read if… you’re looking for a summer thriller a la Catherine Steadman’s Something in the Water or Katherine St. John’s The Lion’s Den.
