The review
Alexis Stone is a school librarian better known to gossip with her elderly coworkers than to be out taking the state by storm like her sister, Lee. She recently was kicked to the curb by her ex-boyfriend and grade A asshole who told her she was lame in bed (good riddance). She sets out to do something she’s never done before: have a one-night stand.
But as her luck (or lack thereof) would have it, her mission would result in way more than what she bargained for in terms of getting her out of her comfort zone. She meets Logan, a foul-mouthed gubernatorial candidate, who’s as charming as he is annoying. Forced into each other’s lives, Alexis and Logan take turns surprising on another in ways any true rom-com fan will enjoy!
I had high hopes for this one since Fool Me Once (which follows Alexis’s sister Lee’s love story!!) had me cackling from page one. Ashley Winstead’s second romantic comedy did not disappoint (but it def didn’t displace my love for its predecessor). I adore both of the Stone sisters and Winstead’s Texas political settings, gah! I know not everyone will, but I love escaping into her novels where liberal candidates have even the slightest chance at taking down the incumbents! #TurnTexasBlue (plz soon?!)
Pre-order this one (out May 9!) if Roy Kent is your favorite character from Ted Lasso and you wanted to be Rory Gilmore when you grew up!
