In this edition of “I’m literally the last person to read this book so here’s a review no one needs,” I give you my second CoHo read.
📜 VERITY by Colleen Hoover 📜
Lowen is a burgeoning author who really needed her big break after her mother died and left her broke. She happens upon a situation — co-writing for the v successful author, Verity Crawford — that might propel her toward some big money and get her career on track. But the situation is v sus… Verity’s health situation is sketch and Lowen goes to live at the Crawford’s low key mansion to help get acquainted with her notes (ones that seem to paint Verity in a not so great light), and subsequently fosters a big ole crush on Verity’s idyllic husband Jeremy. Chaos ensues, as you probably figure.
Let’s start with the good! I absolutely love when a book takes you on a ride and lives ya head scratching at the end. Verity definitely gives you something to think about (and passionately discuss with anyone who’s also read it), and that’s a pretty great feature.
Reading this book reeeally annoyed me at parts. I do think the point was to be frustrated with these characters and the decisions they made, but the eye rolls were constant. Also there is a lot of sex discussed, which I think is totally fine. It just kinda was excessive? Maybe it was the hatable characters that made me be like eh this is a lot.
This one definitely redeemed itself for me in the end — and I give it all the points for being a good, discussable read! S

Pair this one with a spicy margarita — it’ll be just as hot as the sexy parts haha 🌶 🔥
The only other CoHo book I’ve read is Layla (which I loved) and it felt v similar (it’s the wildly inappropriate love triangle for me). Which one do I do next?!
