Recursion (Review)

TFW your first book of the year immediately goes on your favorites shelf. 🙌🏼💛

🧠RECURSION by Blake Crouch 🧠

When people around the world start randomly remembering chunks of their lives that…… never happened, let’s just say it’s not great. And NYC cop Barry Sutton is motivated to get to the bottom of what’s happening, so he does. And he gets way more than what he bargains for. Helen Smith is at the root of this, well, phenomenon. An evil genius (there’s always one of those in any good time-hopping sci-fi story) has corrupted Helen’s life work (memory mapping for Alzheimer’s patients) into, essentially, time travel. Only this type of time travel in the wrong hands has hella consequences (like world-ending consequences) and now Barry and Helen have to save the world.

So, sci-fi ain’t necessary my cup of tea but this one came highly recommended and I knew it was not a matter of if but when I read this book. I picked it up January 1st and have only one regret (which is that I didn’t pick it up sooner!)

Gosh y’all it is just really well written and I was so invested and, while all the timelines are at times confusing, I could not get enough of this book. Why isn’t this a movie already?! Get Hollywood on the phone, NOW!!!
