Transcendent Kingdom (Review)

✨ “I would always have something to prove. Nothing but blazing brilliance would be enough to prove it.” ✨

Transcendent Kingdom gave me all the feels. Absolutely brilliant writing, an incredible story wrought with timely messages and a strong, relatable character.

The vibe

Book / Tumbler / Flowers / Blanket / Lamp / Notebook / Pen / Slippers

How gorgeous is this cover? Heck yes to all pink and black combos.

The review

Gifty is a Ghanaian-American neuroscientist at Stanford working on researching the mechanics of addiction when she gets a call from her pastor in her hometown of Huntsville, Alabama. Her mother won’t leave her bed and, unfortunately, it isn’t the first time she’s sunken into a deep depression. The story flashes back to her childhood, growing up with her all-star brother, her religious upbringing, her elusive father, and her callous mother. It also parallels her research on the mice in the lab and her brother’s opioid addiction that led to his overdose.

This book was absolutely enthralling. I cozied you with it and finished it in just one day.
