This one is easily a fan favorite — but I might not be the biggest fan.
The review
🔬THE LOVE HYPOTHESIS by Ali Hazelwood🔬
Olive got herself into quite the pickle. desperate to convince her bestie that she’s moved on from her ex, Olive locks lips with the first passerby in the lab at Stanford. It just so happens that she accidentally kissed one of the most impressive research professors in the department. Despite his height and dark and dreamy looks, Adam Carlson’s got a pretty negative reputation for being a hard ass. The duo teams up to convince everyone they’re dating and it turns out Adam might not be as cold and harsh as Olive thought he was.
This one checks all the typical romcom troupes:
✅ fake dating
✅ grumpy and sunshine
✅ one bed (sorta)
✅ workplace romance
✅ miscommunications
I get why people love this book. I looooved the STEM setting and all of the characters, but there were just some things I couldn’t get past. For one, the whole premise is kind of insane. Who lies so much to their friend? Or tbh in general? She keeeept getting herself in the same bind. And we get it. Adam is tall. 😂 it just started feeling so repetitive.
I did hear this book gets steamy but I found even that kind of problematic? Olive has a bit of a virginal aspect to her and that coupled with the fact that she’s hooking up with her workplace superior just added up to me to be a little icky.
I’m conflicted because I think I managed to enjoy the ride overall? Maybe I wasn’t truly in the mood for this type of novel because I couldn’t get past all the things I mentioned.

Have you read this one? What do you think? I’m just so conflicted. I wish I could have just let some of these things go 😂
