Song of Achilles (Review)

It’s all Greek to me! 🏛 Finally finished this iconic read — and I’m all the better for it! 5⭐️ review below!

🏺THE SONG OF ACHILLES by Madeline Miller🏺

📝 Brief synopsis: It’s Greece in the time of heroes. Patroclus — a scrawny exiled prince — is our main character. As a teen, he is exiled to Phthia to live with a king and his son, Achilles, who’s rumored to be the best and most powerful of the Greeks. Patroclus and Achilles form a deep bond beginning with friendship — much to the dismay of Thetis, Achilles’s sea goddess, human-hating mother. When Helen of Sparta is kidnapped and a war on Troy is rumored to begin, Achilles is called to fight and Patroclus, bound by love, follows. But a prophecy of Achilles’s death looms over the two of them for the entirety of the 10-year war.

💭 My thoughts: This book had no business of reminding me of English class whilst also making me cry. Anyone else read the Odyssey in school? (Anyone else read it both in high school AND college 🥴 no? Just me?) Anyways, whether Greek mythology is your absolute ✨jam✨ or you’re just here for a timeless love story, this is your next read.

⏱ Pace: Slow and steady

🌟 Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

📖 Read if…. Hercules was your favorite Disney movie growing up and if you thought 300 needed more romance.
